I am not a fan of the "perception is reality" view. It might seem real to all of us but there is an entire universe out there that doesn't need our permission to exist. The cult of modern Conservatism is an example.

No.
No single organization of any type "breeds" narcissism. Narcissists are born that way but they do accumulate into positions of power in any authoritarian organization be it government, corporate or religious. Positions of power act like a magnet for that type of person.

It could be tricky to confuse cause and effect. While the religion might cause anxiety it also attracts people that are already pre-disposed to mental illness. That would create a vicious feed back loop.

Child Abuse - "I don't care. I haven't got any children".
by cofty inearlier this week i bumped into a couple of jws who i recognised from the cult cart.
a few months ago i had a long conversation with him one of them and found him to be quite friendly.
he is new to the area in the years since i left.. this time he was very defensive and said he wasn't allowed to talk to me.

by Simon init's getting to the point where cnn should start announcing "breaking news" if there *hasn't* been a mass shooting !.
it's crazy.. i was watching the 70's documentary they are running and that's the point when media hype about mass serial killers seemed to begin the danger-gun-solution hype cycle.
sure, people had guns before then but nowhere near like it is now.. when will it end?
